Star WR Tee Higgins was informed by the Cincinnati Bengals that he will receive the franchise tag. The Bengals see Higgins as a critical part of their team and are in talks for a long-term contract. The expected cap hit for a WR franchise tag is around 21 million. Higgins stays in Cincinnati, keeping their near future intact.
2023 was Tee Higgins’ least productive season, with 12 games played. He had 42 catches for 656 yards and 5 TDs. In the previous two seasons, he had over 1000 yards. Obviously, not having Joe Burrow can directly impact his numbers. Higgins is seen as a true WR1 talent but gets the WR2 role behind teammate Jamar Chase.
