Titans Tumble Into A Rebuild | Vrabel Left Shaking His Head

Wow, the Tennessee Titans just made a shocking move. Head Coach Mike Vrabel has been fired. Vrabel has been widely viewed as a top coach in recent years. Recently, the Titans have been in a transition period as they started the rebuild process. Vrabel has been the Titans head coach since 2018. When Vrabel came in, he led the Titans to four consecutive winning seasons. The team noticeably changed when the traded star WR AJ Brown. From there, the team seemed to be in a rebuild, with back-to-back frustrating seasons. The Titans obviously made a decision to do a full reset.

Old School Ideals

Vrabel and his philosophy of pounding the rock, gutsy QB play, and downhill in your face defense was well liked. In a time of rapid pace, high flying offense, and overly athletic defenses playing the perimeter, Tennessee has done quite the opposite. Vrabel had an identity that contradicted the nounces of the game. Shockingly, it worked quite well. Old school is Vrabel’s whole identity.

Vrabel’s Success

Vrabel joined the team in 2018, where he went 7-9. The breakout season for Derrick Henry was absurd, where he rushed 280 for 1167 yards. Henry became the offense. Insert 2019 Pro-Bowler Ryan Tannehill. The Titans rolled into the playoffs as the 6th seed. They went on a tear, going all the way to Championship game. They lost to the future superbowl champs Kansas City Cheifs. 2020 saw the Titans getting upset by the Ravens in the Divisional Round. 2021 was the best year yet. Vrabel led the charge into the playoffs as the no. 1 seed. Their season ended with a loss to the Bengals in the divisional round. In 2022, they raced out to a 7–3 start. Welp, the struggles began. After starting out hot, they suffered a late-season collapse. They ended the season on a brutal seven-game losing streak.

Rebuild agony

This year has been one of transition, that saw rookie QB Will Levis take over. The Titans committed to a rebuild mid-season, placing top players on the trade block. The season ended with a win against division rival Jacksonville, knocking them out of the playoffs. Proving the Titans are one tough team to keep down. Vrabel finished the season at 6-11. It’s been frustrating lately to be a Titans fan. Despite that, many still backed Vrabel and his decisions. Well, most people aren’t the Tennessee Titans owner, Amy Adams Strunk. She made the hard decision to move on from head coach Mike Vrabel, entering an era of unknown for Tennessee. Vrabel will most likely garner attention and discussion for other teams with head coach vacancies or hot seats. Let’s see how it plays out, but Vrabel, but should have a job elsewhere.
