Dynasty Fantasy Football: Way too early 2024 Rookie Mock Draft.

The 2023 fantasy season has come to an end, so now is the time many dynasty managers start thinking about the 2024 rookie draft. Not all rookie draft classes are created the same. As of now this group of rookies looks to be lead by QBs and WRs. A lot can change between now and April, but here is my best guess as to how the first round of your Superflex rookie draft will look.

1.01Caleb Williams (USC – QB)

Williams has failed to take the steps forward that many had predicted. While I am far from sold on Williams as a NFL QB, his elite athleticism and skill as a runner makes him hard to dispute as the top pick in Superflex leagues. If Williams can get away from hero ball he can immediately be in the conversation of top 5 fantasy QBs

1.02 – Drake Maye (UNC – QB)

I am very tempted to put Maye at 1.01, but for now I will leave him at QB2 of the class. Maye has the size, arm and athletic ability. My early comparisons for Maye is Justin Herbert. My pre-draft assessment is that Maye is a safer prospect than Caleb and should be a fantasy contributor for many years.

1.03 – Marvin Harrison Jr (OSU – WR)

It almost feels criminal to have such an elite prospect at 1.03, but that is the importance and value of gifted QBs in Superflex. Harrison Jr is my favorite wide receiver prospect to come out since Julio Jones/AJ Green. His savvy route-running, top tier body control, elite ball skills, and hands makes him the most bulletproof player in this draft.

1.04 – Malik Nabers (LSU – WR)

As we get closer to the NFL draft you will start to see some pundits mention Nabers as a better prospect than Harrison Jr. That is just how great these two WR prospects this draft. Nabers had an incredible 2023 as LSU catching 86 passes for 1546 yards and 14 TDs. His YAC ability and incredible ability to create separation will draw many DJ Moore Comparisons, but Nabers is a much better prospect than DJ Moore is.

1.05 – Brock Bowers (GA – TE)

Brock Bowers has been on the radar for those in the dynasty community for a few years now. The sure handed Tight End has been labeled the best prospect at the position since Kyle Pitts. The recent success of Sam LaPorta as a rookie will remain fresh in the mind of dynasty managers as they use a top 5 pick on the former Bulldog.

1.06- Jayden Daniels (LSU – QB)

Daniels is coming off of a monster 2023 season that awarded him with the Heisman Trophy. Daniels ceiling/floor reminds me a bit of Anthony Richardson last year, but where I like Daniels more is his decision making and game management. Daniels has plenty of big play ability with both his legs and ability to hit WRs in stride with his big arm. If Daniels can continue his ascension and prove to NFL Scouts that he can adapt his skill set for the next level, we’re looking at likely early 1st round draft pick that can challenge both Maye and Williams for the 1.o1 in rookie drafts.

1.07 – Rome Odunze (WASH – WR)

Odunze is a big-bodied receiver, with sure hands, and can generate separation down field. His ability to manipulate leverage in man coverage and find a soft spot in zone coverage made Odunze a favorite of Penix Jr while in Washington. Odunze is still a little raw as a prospect. While his size and natural athleticism is off the charts, he will need time to polish his routes and fine-tune his nuances to be a WR1 in the NFL. I am reminded of Courtland Sutton at SMU when I watch Odunze.

1.08 – TreVeyon Henderson (OSU – RB)

As a patient runner with great vision and electric burst, Henderson is a big play waiting to happen. Henderson also has a lot of offer as a receiver with fluid routes and excellent hands. There is not another RB in this draft class that comes close to being as dynamic as Henderson. Henderson is not a perfect prospect however. He needs to improve as a blocker and increase his physicality to be a featured back at the next level. There are also concerns about his ability to stay healthy.

1.09 – Keon Coleman (FSU- WR)

You will be hard pressed to find a more physical WR in this draft class. Coleman is a massive target at 6’4″ 215lbs and possesses an alpha like attitude when the ball is in the air. There is not a WR in this class with as much untapped potential as Coleman. His athletic burst and catch-point instinct scream WR1, but his footwork and route running need to be tuned up before his potential can be unlocked.

1.10 – Emeka Egbuka (OSU- WR)

Egbuka was one of my favorite WRs coming into the 2023 season. After an injury riddled 2023 I think he may return to school, but if he declares I still think he will be a first round draft pick. Egbuka is a well rounded WR who does many things well. While he does not possess the upside as many other in this article, Egbuka will be a PPR machine. When watching his 2022 tape I saw a lot of Amon-Ra St. Brown in his game.

1.11 – Xavier Worthy (Texas- WR)

Worthy is a burner, but speed is not the only thing he excels at. He pairs his freakish speed with a savvy route running skill set and soft hands. I see a blend of Tyreek Hill and Zay Flowers when watching Worthy. There are two things that hold Worthy back. One being his extremely thin frame, he is 6’1″ and only 164lbs and the second being physical against press coverage. Overall his speed and route running makes him YAC monster with or without adding bulk.

1.12 – Troy Franklin (ORE- WR)

Franklin is a speed freak that runs detailed routes and has above average YAC ability. Franklin is a high IQ WR that knows how to attack and manipulate DBs. What is concerning about Franklin at the next level is his tall lanky frame and inconsistent ability to win contested balls. Franklin does not possess WR1 potential, but in the right offense could be a very productive WR2.
