Report shows Broncos/Wilson at odds for months.

In the wake of the Broncos announcing Russell Wilson will be benched for the remainder of the season, new information has come to light in a report from Jordan Schultz at Bleacher Report. The report details facts that have been confirmed by local sources that immediately after the Broncos defeated the Chiefs on October 29^th, the Broncos asked Russell Wilson to remove his injury clause from his contract. The move would negate his guarantee of 37 million dollars for 2025.

“The threat, ‘shocked him,’ and the two sides got into a major dispute on how to proceed,” Schultz wrote. Apparently the dispute has reached the NFLPA.

Local sources are also reporting that the request was made to have Wilson compete in camp in 2024 without guaranteeing the 2025 money. With the two sides apparently at odds for months, and Russell Wilson holding the cards, it would appear that the Broncos best option would be to cut Wilson.
