Houston Texans Land A Big Win Over The Tennessee Titans

The Houston Texans took on the Tennessee Titans in Nashville, Tennessee today for a game that has playoff implications for both teams. With Case Keenum winning the nod for starter at the Quarterback position after a week’s long question of who will be starting between Keenum and Davis Mills. The Texans also faced a number of injuries to their starting lineup with key players being out for this game including C.J. Stroud, Nico Collins, Will Anderson Jr, and Blake Cashman just to name a few.

The first two quarters of this game saw the Titans take a 13-3 lead with two touchdowns. The Titans kicker Nick Folk missed the PAT on the first touchdown to only give them six points in the first quarter. This touchdown was followed by a Touchdown and a PAT in the second quarter. The Texans Offense struggled to get something started for most of the first half. The Texans were not able to find the endzone for a touchdown and only had a single field goal going into halftime.


Coming into the third quarter the Texans defense stood strong. They held the Titans to zero points and the offense finally started to get things rolling. Still moving with Keenum at the helm they put up two more field goals to bring the score to 13-9.

The fourth quarter saw the Texans get a touchdown with a PAT followed by the Titans getting a field goal bringing the total score to 16-16. In the final minutes, both teams’ defenses were able to get big stops and brought the game into overtime. Overtime saw both teams’ defenses getting big game changing stops. There was also a few times where Will Levis looked like he would be able to lead the Titans to a win, before the Texans pass rush stopped him resulting in several negative yard plays.

With the clock winding down in overtime, Texans Quarterback Keenum was able to make a sideline pass to running back Devin Singletary for a 41-yard catch and run play. Bringing the Texans into field goal range with only seconds left on the clock. Kaimi Fairbairn, after weeks of being on injured reserve kicked a 54 yard field goal to win the game 19-16.

The Texans now move to 8-6 on the year and continue their playoff push sitting at the eighth seed position. The Titans have now been eliminated from playoff contention at 5-9. Next week the Texans face the Cleveland Browns in Houston, Texas. While the Tennessee Titans will play the Seattle Seahawks in Nashville, Tennessee.
