Broncos aim to discharge the Bolts

Hello Broncos Country. A five-game winning streak is usually attained by elite teams in the NFL. Obviously, the Broncos are not in that category. They overachieved. It’s not false bravado and, as I’ve stated, the Broncos have built a platform or launching pad to become a much better team. There are pieces missing and the roster will undergo quite a change in the offseason. I digress. Currently, it would behoove the team to play within the limits of their capabilities. Run the ball and set up short, high percentage passes. They’re still learning how to win games.

The Los Angeles Chargers (5-7) are a baffling team to me. They are loaded with talent across the board. Questionable coaching and the inability to hold leads late in games have caused the team to struggle. Justin Herbert is a young, talented QB that can run but he adds to the struggles late in games. Western Colorado star RB Austin Ekeler has been inconsistent in the run game and Chargers fans are clamoring for Joshua Kelley to get more carries. Ekeler remains a threat out of the backfield as a receiver. With injuries to WRs Mike Williams and Joshua Palmer, Keenan Allen has been the most consistent target for Herbert. Defensively, the Chargers are again, loaded with talent at every level. Although elite edge rusher Joey Bosa is on IR, Khalil Mack has been a force with 14 tackles for loss and 15 sacks! They struggle to stop the run however and as a unit they have also been inept at closing out games.

The Broncos lead the all-time series with the Chargers at 71-55-1. They also haven’t won in L.A. since 2018. Sean Payton must return to the tactics that propelled the team to five straight victories. Heavy doses of RB Javonte Williams and hopefully Samaje Perine (knee). RB Tyler Badie was elevated to the active roster should Perine become unavailable. Russ still needs to get the ball out of his hands and quit giving his coach, and us, anxiety. For the defense, KISS. Keep it simple, stupid. Maintain run gap integrity and play within the system. Be where you are supposed to be. This is one the Broncos can win. Raincloud out!
