Pro Football Debate Dynasty Rookie Busts and Sleepers

Let Pro Football Debate assist you with those tough decisions during your dynasty rookie draft this season.

BUSTS

Anthony Richardson QB, Colts

This could age very poorly, but I’m not optimistic about Richardson. When I watch his film,  I see horrible footwork that will be overshadowed by elite athleticism. That said, his upside still worth the investment of a 5 pick in superflex leagues.

Zach Charbonnet RB, Seahawks

Zach has all the talent to be a fantasy contributor but he may not have much of an opportunity. No skilled offensive player landed in a worse spot than Charbonnet. Fantasy is all about opportunity and I don’t see it for him.

Quentin Johnson WR, Chargers

QJ touched down in a great position- a spot that I had hoped for Zay Flowers or Jordan Addison. Quentin has a great combination of size, speed, and length, but he loses me at route-running. It’s unremarkable and he’s not a natural-hands catcher.

SLEEPERS

Israel Abanikanda RB, Jets

This guy is a slippery runner with the speed to create big plays. Abanikanda is behind the impressive Breece Hall, but it’s rumored that the Jets were targeting Detroit running back Jahmry Gibbs. There is room for solid RB2 production in the Jets offense and Abanikanda has the skill set to force his way onto the field.

Kayshoun Boutte WR, Patriots

Once a hot item for devy fantasy players, Boutte struggled with injuries at LSU causing many to cool on the former 5-Star recruit. If he can overcome his ankle issues, Boutte’s catch and run abilities could help make him Mac Jones’ favorite target.

Zach Evans RB, Rams

A one time 5- Star recruit, Evans possesses the ideal body composition for today’s NFL running back. A career average of 6.9 yards per carry showcases his ability to make big plays. With only Akers to compete with I can see Evans playing early and often for the once electric Rams offense.

Justin Shorter WR, Bills

The Bills used a 5th round pick on this 6’4″ WR. What Shorter lacks in athleticism after the catch, he more than makes up for with his ball tracking and high-point ability. This makes him a potential lethal Red Zone option for a high-powered Buffalo offense.

A.T Perry WR, Saints

Inconsistent hands caused A.T to fall all the way to round 6, but he landed in a great position with New Orleans. Perry has significant size and enough route-running skills to be a vertical and red zone threat for New Orleans-if he can overcome his inconsistencies.

DEEP SLEEPERS

Sean Tucker – RB, Bucs

The former Syracuse running back surprised many in the devy community by going undrafted. Tucker was a workhorse in college, carrying the ball over 200 teams as a sophomore and junior and eclipsing 1000 yards on the ground both years. After deciding to move on from Leonard Fournette, Tampa Bay has an unproven backfield with Raschaad White listed atop the depth chart. Tucker excels with his patience and running style making him a candidate to play often on 1st and 2nd down.

Mohamed Ibrahim – RB, Lions

An absolute bulldozer at RB! A lot of the talk in Detroit centers around the new shiny toy Gibbs and big FA RB signing David Montgomery, but Ibrahim is a sneaky pick to be a TD vulture (a.k.a. Jamaal Williams in 2022). Staying healthy will be Ibrahim’s biggest obstacle.

That’s it for today, Agree? Disagree? Let me know in the comments. Let’s debate!
